And by damned sure, as the president of the U.S., it was his responsibility to have at least attempted to order an increase of airline security. John Ashcroft stopped taking commercial flights in July of 2001 for christ's sake - someone in the higher levels of the gov't, including the president (as evident by the memo), had prior warning of a threat and nobody did a fucking thing about it except to try to protect their own interests (the security of the American people apparently not included in that list of interests).

So really, 9-11 is his fault - and as such he is responsible for the economic fallout of it. But neither he nor his brainwashed sudo-patriotic disciples will ever have the balls to admit it.

As for Greenspan, we'll see if his prediction yields truth. Whole markets fluctuate according to what he says, so a rise in the dollar due to prospecting because of what he may or may not do means next to nothing.

Now back to the original debate: gasoline. Watch out, I'm going to do some of that "getting information" magic that you seem so proud of.

That's oh, roughly $3.50 per gallon of gasoline. $1.80 doesn't look so bad anymore, does it? If you average the top 100, the U.S. still doesn't even show up, and the average is $1.18 per liter. $1.80 still looks pretty damn good to me. If we expand the chart criteria to include all countries, then we see that the US is the 40th lowest country IN THE WORLD (out of 141 surveyed countries) for gasoline prices with a price of $0.77 per liter.

The reality is that the economy sucks because: 1) people drove planes into buildings in nyc and 2) people overvalued stock in the late '90's that was positively worthless.
